Final draft of students' narrative interview that reveals the interviewee's voice and shows how the college, training, military experience contributed to the person's coming of age.

 

Students will bring a paper copy and upload a digital copy to Turn It In.

 

Students are drafting their first writing assignment for unit 1.  Students must upload their draft to Turn It In to help with revision and editing.

This week we have been practicing the active reading strategy Double Entry Journal and using textual evidence and providing analysis, questions, and/or opinions.

 Now it time to take what we have been doing in class and apply to your independent reading.

 You will read for 30 minutes.  Then for the rest of the period you will write double entry journal by fining quotes that provide insight into the narrator’s (speaker’s voice), humor, emotional event, or societal issue.

Due at the end of the period.

Page 9 introduces the Double Entry Journal.This activity reading strategy will be in the composition book under Cornell Notes pages 2-3 

1. Students must print two "selfie" photos that are school appropriate.  These will be used on students' composition and literature books.

2. Bring a compositions/spiral notebook for first semester.

 Syllabus Scavenger Hunt and Syllabus with parent and student signatures

 Students traced their hand on 8 1/2 x 11 construction paper.  It will be designed with student's name and positive traits about one self.  It must be colorful and thoughtful.  It must show effort. This will be used in the student's writing portfolio. Due on Monday, August 21.
