We will be beginning and working on Chapter 8 in Great Gatsby. Be sure to continue working on your short story that is due the 15th. 

Chapter 7 Gatsby due at the latest on Wednesday. Short Stories are due on the 15th.

Read Walden 382-392 in your book. We will give those who need to finish their Crucible tests a few minutes on Wednesday. Edits on your first two paragraphs of Character essay will be done on Wednesday as well.

Read "Civil Disobedience" 370-377 in your book. Work on your Crucible study guide and you can start your essay, but it is not due until Monday. (2 paragraphs)

Homework is the Anticipation Guide: Look at the 12 statements and mark if you agree or disagree on the sheet. Then, choose one that you strongly AGREE or DISAGREE with and write a paragraph about it. 

 Be in class tomorrow, as we are beginning reading The Crucible. 

 Vocabulary list started in class. Please fill out charts completely. 

 Fire and Ice writing assignment: Respond to what you think of when you hear this phrase and also what you were thinking during the reading of the poem. 

 Syllabus activity: On a piece of notebook paper, please do the following:

 

1. Share the syllabus with your parents or guardians.  Have your parents print and sign their name(s) to show that you did this. 

2. Write a statement that show you understand the Writing percentage of your grade.

3. List at least two pieces of literature that we will be reading in class.

4. Write out the words for the acronym ERWC. (All classes, including English 11)

5. Turn paper in tomorrow at the beginning of class.
