Turn in at the beginning of class, Friday, 2-23, your typed summary from Quindlen's essay.  Also due will be your completed questions 1-5 on page 17, and completed work from pages 18 and 19. You will need a separate sheet of paper anytime the text says use your notebook.  Make sure you use some of the words of the question to write your answer.

11th-Close reading (annotate) Franklin's Speech in the Convention. Consider why Franklin chooses to illustrate his point in paragraph 1 by referring to a "certain French lady." What is the effect of this quotation? Write your thoughts on the bottom of page 44. We will continue this work in class.
