Maintenance and Light Repair I (Period 2)

Course Description

 Maintenance and Light Repair I (MLR I), Is a 1-year course based on the nationally recognized ASE – Accreditation Standards, designed to prepare students for entry-level employment in the automotive service industry.  Instruction includes both theory and lab experiences and is a prerequisite for Maintenance and Light Repair II (MLR II) Year 2 of the 3-year program. Students must pass the prerequisite course with a C or better. Course training prepares the student for entry-level employment as automotive technician helper, engine assembler helper, accessory installer, electrical helper, tire technician, auto cooling system technician and fuel system technician. This course is articulated with MSJC and RCC, students may receive 3 units from MSJC or RCC, student must pass the class with a B letter grade, pass end of the year cumulative final with 70% or better, and complete the enrollment process for either college. This course also meets the University of California “a-g” requirements and counts towards the “g” requirement.
