COURSE AIM:
The aim of this course is to understand the basic concepts (The Periodic Table, chemical bonding, and different chemical reactions) of general chemistry and to provide information of how it is applied to science-related careers. Labs will be used throughout the course to give students hands-on experience and a better understanding of certain topics. Some of the topics that will be presented are:
* Atomic Theory
* Stoichiometry
* Thermochemistry
* The Gas Laws
* Electronic Structure of Atoms
* Covalent Bonding
* Ionic Bonding
* Solutions
* Equilibrium
* Acids and Bases
* Energy and Spontaneity
* Reduction and Oxidation
* Nuclear Chemistry
* Organic Chemistry
