Important message from Dr. Lewis, Superintendent, regarding the Fairview Fire (near Hemet). LEUSD schools will remain open.

Dear LEUSD Community,

We want to share an important update regarding the Fairview Fire (near Hemet). Over the past week, our team has been actively monitoring the incident and working with our Riverside County emergency management agencies to evaluate the potential impact on our schools. Our district has implemented our inclement weather protocols based on the Southern California Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) air quality advisory.

Currently, the advisory is in effect through Friday, September 9, 2022, at 6 pm. This means that ALL OUTDOOR activities and sports are canceled through that time. This includes outdoor assemblies, Friday Flag, physical education, and athletic activities.

At this time, schools will be open tomorrow. We will continue to monitor the situation and update our families as soon as more information is available.

We understand that the fire and air quality advisory may impact families and staff in various ways and encourage families to make decisions that meet those considerations.

We appreciate your support,

Ryan Lewis, Ed.D.
