Advanced Ceramics is a year-long class that builds upon the skills and techniques taught in beginning ceramics and allows the student to take an active role in their artistic investigations and inquiries. Students will further develop their skills and work toward expressing their own individual ideas, themes, and content. Some other ideas that will be explored are the following: sets, working in a series, making forms more elaborate and more complex, researching other ceramic techniques and artist, working sculpturally, mold making, slip casting, etc. The goal of this class to have the student develop their own artistic skill and vision for their work. In addition, you will also use different artistic processes, continue to build your art vocabulary, use the visual elements and the principles of design, design thinking, visual thinking strategies, visual literacy & communication, and the studio habits of the mind.
