This year will be my Eighteenth year at EHS and I will be teaching 2 classes of Biology and 3 classes of Japanese, which will include Japanese I-III and AP Japanese. I absolutely love EHS and the students!
I was born and educated in Japan, receiving my first teaching credential from Sacred Heart College in Tokyo, Japan (in Japanese). A year later, I did a one-year fellowship at Doan Stewart School in New York as part of an International teaching fellowship program. After which, I worked as a licensed interpreter/translator/tour guide at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, DC for about 10 years.
A few years after relocating to California in the early nineties, I was awarded a B.S. in Health Science, from Cal State University, and subsequently, I received my teaching credential and master’s in teaching from Chapman University.
Biology Course Description
Biology is a one-year life science course. An appreciation of living forms will enable students to perceive the relationship of organisms to one another and their environment. Students will also gain an understanding of the chemical components that make up plants, animals, and microorganisms. This course meets UC/CSU (Laboratory Science-d) requirement.
Japanese Course Description
Japanese class is a year-long college preparatory course in which students learns and uses speaking, reading, writing, and listening skills in Japanese. Students who do not have strong study habits may find the task of learning grammar and the four Japanese writing systems simultaneously to be extremely challenging. The class will focus on cross-culture communication. Students will participate in activities which introduce Japanese vocabulary, grammar, conversations and survival skills in Japanese. Students will also become familiar with Japanese culture and customs. This class fulfills the district graduation requirement for foreign language/fine arts. This class meets UC requirements.
