Location: Subject: A Small Change That Makes a Big Difference for Our Students Dear LEUSD Families, At LEUSD, we’re always looking for ways to give our students every opportunity to grow, learn, and thrive. One of the most valuable resources we can offer them is time—time for deeper learning, extra support, and enrichment that builds both skills and confidence. That’s why we’re making a small adjustment to the elementary school schedule that will have a big impact: Starting August 11, 2025, the school day for elementary schools, including TK and Kindergarten, will begin at 7:50 a.m. First through Fifth grades will end the school day at 1:55 p.m., adding 15 more minutes of instructional time each day. TK and Kindergarten pick-up times may vary by school site; please wait for additional information from your school site. For K-8 schools, the new school day will run from 8:00 a.m. to 2:05 p.m., adding 15 more minutes of instructional time each day. TK and Kindergarten will begin school at 8:00 a.m. Pick-up times for TK and Kindergarten may vary by school site; please wait for additional information from your school site. To continue supporting our students' well-being, school sites will remain open for 30 minutes prior to the start of school for breakfast, just as they are now. Additionally, there will be adjustments to the transportation schedule to accommodate the new school times. We understand this change may require an adjustment to your daily routine, and we truly appreciate your flexibility. Our school teams are working to make this transition as smooth as possible for students and families alike. Updated bell schedules will be shared by your school site in the coming days. Thank you for being a vital part of your child’s educational journey. Your support helps us make the most of every minute—and together, we’re giving students more time to shine. If you have any questions, please reach out to your school office.
