BASIC SKILLS TEST
  • adding/subtracting/multiplying/dividing integers
  • combining like terms
  • distributive properties (with or without fractions)
  • simplifying expressions
  • order of operations
  • evaluating expressions
  • solving one-step equations
  • solving two-step equations
  • solving multi-step equations
There is no excuse for not learning these skills by the time you reach algebra 1.  If you struggled in the past, you must find a way to master it somehow very fast.  Either go to tutoring, get help at home, get help from a friend, watch a lot of youtube videos, reteach yourself, use flashcards to help you remember your multiplication and division or even some basic algebraic skills.  Practice practice practice until you have mastered these skills.  I will not be retesting this.  We are moving on to CH 2 the following week.

Due:

Assignment

HWBS3:
  • Order of Operations

DO ALL 36 QUESTIONS.

Due:

Assignment

HWBS1:
  • adding and subtracting integers.
  • multiplying integers
  • dividing integers
PRACTICE even if you already know it.  I've attached the file and the solution.  DO NOT COPY!!!  You're only cheating yourself.  LEARN THEM NOW!!!

You're only doing the even problems for the adding/subtracting/multiplying section but all from the division section.

LAST WEEK'S HOMEWORK - DUE TODAY!!!
HW1.3C, HW1.4C, and the Practice Test.

Due to soooooo many students who still need to study their basic skills such as adding/subtracting/multiplying/dividing/distributing/combining like terms/simplifying simple fractions and much more...we are going to take a step back and re-explore all of these skills from Elementary School.  This week, we are going to explore some of our basic abilities such as simplifying, evaluating, understanding opposite operations, recognizing patterns and much much more.  You will be tested on these skills on Friday 9/15.

These will not be in your notebook.  You will not be using your notebook until we return to CH 2 in our textbook the following Monday.  If you missed any quizzes and/or tests during unit 1 and has a valid excuse for your absence/absences, you may make-up them on Tuesday in class.

I do apologize that we still have so many students who have not learned their basic math and that we have to step back and go back a few years to recall them.  In addition, all cell phones will be collected every class period and every day from now on.
