AP Calc Summer work instructions and solutions

AP Calculus Summer Work

  1. Please complete the “ARE YOU READY FOR CALCULUS” worksheet neatly, in its entirety with work shown, and completed correctly. If you don’t know something look it up online, ask a friend, email me, etc. All of these questions should be completed without a calculator. At some point in the summer I will post the answers on my webpage for you to check your work. This is due the first day of regular class Friday August 18. On that Friday the first quiz will be given over advanced algebra and trig skills.
  2. Although technically not summer work the second assignment, due Tuesday August 22, is from the textbook for those who would like to get a jump start on it. Ch. 1 Review pg 68-70. Concept check 1-6,8-11. True False 1-14. Exercises 1-9odd, 17, 22,24,25. The concept check section requires you to explain so a sentence or two will be needed. For the true/false section if it is true, explain why. If it is false give an example that disproves the statement. If you do not plan to check out the textbook before you leave I will post a picture of the questions on my website.
  3. Other materials that are not required but highly recommended: I recommend buying or borrowing from the library a recent AP Calculus review/study book such as Princeton review, Barons, Kaplan, etc. You will be receiving a different one that comes with the textbook, however you won’t get to write on them and mark them up. The more practice tests you can get your hands on the better. The AP Calculus Test has changed slightly even this past year which is why I recommend the newest copy you can find.
  4. Graphing Calculators-If you plan on buying one this summer please make sure it is on the approved list for the AP test which I will post on the website. Scientific, non graphing calculators are not allowed on the AP test and you will not be allowed to use them in class either.
