Academic Essentials is an academic elective course that prepares students for college readiness and post secondary success. This course employs AVID strategies that will increase participation in activities which incorporate systems focused on writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization and reading to support their academic growth. The curriculum is designed to bring students together to take responsibility for their own learning. Students will work in collaborative settings, learn how to participate in academic discussions, and use sources to support their ideas and opinions. Learners will be afforded time to implement course essentials into practice.
