Academic Decathlon is a premiere academic competition that allows you to match wits against schools from across Riverside County as well as across California.  

 

Academic Decathlon is a ten event competition that includes:  math, science, history, economics, literature, art, music, speech, interview, and essay.  Each year the competition centers on a theme.  The theme for 2022-23 is the American Revolution.  This means that we will learn how the American Revolution has shaped history, art, music, literature, and more.

 

Academic Decathlon is a team competition.  Each team consists of 9 students ranging in GPA.  There is the Honors Division which has students with an unweighted GPA of 3.8 and above.  There is the Scholastic Division which has students with an unweighted GPA of 3.2 to 3.79.  There is the Varsity Division which has students with an unweighted GPA of less than 3.2.  Each team needs 3 students from each GPA category above.  

 

Academic Decathlon looks great for college applications.  It is a nationally recognized academic competition.  Also, students who compete in AcDec tend to be very prepared for success in college!

 

Academic Decathlon is a chance to meet new people and have a great time learning!  It is also an opportunity to use your brains to win medals and trophies.  

 

Academic Decathlon at EHS has been very successful.  We have been a top 3 team in Riverside County for over a decade and have won the last 6 county championships.  We have been invited to the state championships each of the last 11 years!

 

Academic Decathlon is an opportunity to make lifelong friends, learn a ton of fun facts, eat some great food, and prepare yourself for success in college and beyond.  AcDec is fun!
