Welcome Students and Parents!

My name is Rico Borrero, and I am one of five counselors at Elsinore High School. I have privilege of serving students with last names Hep–Mer. I began my career in education in 2003 as a second-grade teacher. In 2008, I transitioned into school counseling after earning my master’s degree in educational counseling from Azusa Pacific University. My philosophy as an educator is simple: Never give up on a student, regardless of their grades, behavior, or the challenges they may be facing. Who students are today and the decisions they make today do not determine the adults they will become. I’m living proof of that. I believe every student has the ability to grow, overcome challenges, and reach their goals when they have the right support, encouragement, and someone who believes in them. My goal is to help students recognize their potential, navigate the challenges of high school, and feel confident about their future. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family, hiking, and cycling. I look forward to getting to know our students and families and supporting them throughout their high school journey.
