My name is Matt Kelly, and I’m proud to serve as the Automotive Technology teacher here at Elsinore High School. I bring over 26 years of experience in the transportation industry, where I’ve had the privilege of working in a wide variety of roles. My career journey has included positions as a repair technician, college professor, department head, small business owner, electric bus manufacturer, and now, a high school teacher. Each of these experiences has shaped the way I teach and the knowledge I share with my students.
Educational Background
I have a diverse educational foundation that reflects my passion for both technical skills and lifelong learning. I graduated from Universal Technical Institute (UTI) in 1994 with an Associate of Occupational Studies in Automotive Technology. Later, I returned to school and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from the University of Phoenix. Still eager to grow, I pursued a Master’s Degree at the University of Redlands. Most recently, I completed my Career Technical Education (CTE) teaching credential through the University of San Diego.
Teaching Experience
I began my career in education in 2000 and joined the Elsinore High School family in 2016. Over the years, I’ve come to realize that teaching is more than a profession—it’s a calling. I truly feel at home here at Elsinore and look forward to many more years of helping students build the skills and confidence they need to succeed in the automotive industry and beyond.
EHS is a special place, and I’m proud to be part of this community. In addition to teaching, I previously served as a football coach and even transferred two of my sons to Elsinore High because I believed in what this school offers. Both graduated and are now thriving as productive adults, living exciting lives shaped in part by their experiences here at Elsinore.
