good morning welcome to the 2017-2018 school year I'm one of your co-principals misses Arredondo and I'm your other co-principal misses Hamilton today we are going to teach you how to read your transcript at this time you should have your transcript in have you ridden a transcript is an important skill for becoming college-ready we want you to know and understand and how to improve your academic achievement we look forward to a great day today for you to be empowered as it's very important students that you understand and review your transcript constantly first thing on the transcript in front of you at the top right corner check the student information box to make sure that it is your tran trapped on the upper left hand corner is the school information box you will see different codes but also your information there as well are the upper left box a transcript is a student ID class counselor your state ID and ginger and great please make sure that this information is correct and please look at the GPA summary box class rank this tells you how you measure up GPA wise compared to every other student in your grade level the small number is the students ranked the large number is how many students are in the same grade level cumulative GPA is the average of every grade from every class you would ever during high school and if you've taken honors dual enrollment AP courses the weighted grades are used to calculate this average 2 GPA unweighted is the average every grade from every class that you have taken during your high school and if you've taken honors dual enrollment or AP courses the weighted grades are not used to calculate the average Cal grant GPA GPA is used by the state of California to determine your financial aid eligibility and includes all classes taken during 10th and 11th grade and the Summers after 10 an 11th grade except for your PE classes keeping your Cal grant GPA above a 3.0 will help you earn maximum grants and scholarships for college that do not have to be your way to 10 to 12 academic GPA GPA four-year universities will look at to determine if a student qualifies for admission is an average of 82 horses that you have taken since tenth grade and if you've taken honors AP dual enrollment classes the weighted grades are used to calculate the average your goal for this box is a 3.5 your weight is 9 - 12 academic GPA GPA is like the 10th through 12th grade but uses the classes you took in 9th grade as well next you move on to the of course it's taken this box points out all the classes you have taken are listed by grade level and semester beginning with your ninth grade along with the final grade you receive please look at your English 9 course look under the title English 9 and notice College code B English this college code B illustrates that English 9 meet the a through G requirements under the B requirements so please take some time and review your courses and the great that you have in them credit summary please look at your credit summary beginning the total credits attempted at the bottom and see it for each credit attempted if you earn an equal number for instance if 120 credits have been attempted did you earn 120 credits if not your credit efficient and you should look through the different subjects listed and see where your deficiency occurs for example sophomore student should have completed 60 credits June student should have completed 120 credits and Senior student should have completed 180 credits for the 2017-2018 school year if you knew SS2 dinar b'loonies credit levels according to your grade please see a counselor to create a plan to make up these credits if your credits are severely deficient you should request an appointment with your counselor to review alternative placement opportunities to graduate on time next you will see standards and testing information this is where students community service hours will be displayed once they have turned them in please check them sure that you have submitted your community service hours because this is a requirement for graduation if this is blank under community service that means that no hours and I see are currently listed this is also the box where you will see your sat act and state test scores student when reviewing your transcript member that DS are considered passing for graduation requirements however students working towards College admission need to earn C's or higher to be a through G eligible please her to the handout that has a through G requirements High School graduation requirements if you have questions so if you have any questions or concerns about your transcript please reach out to your counselor and make an appointment it is a good idea to keep your transcript in binder for easy access and just a reminder that transcripts are updated twice a year due to students making a credit to summer school Blended learning classes or bringing an advanced course work through a junior college like msjc transcripts are updated in October and February by the counseling department thank you students for walking through your transcripts if you have any questions or concerns you may make a note on your script and drop it off at the counseling office counselors will be updating your transcripts in October we look forward to creating an environment where all students believe they will achieve Elsinore High School in each classroom you will find in Elsinore High School UC CSU approved course list you will find them either gray and white or black and red Angus course list you will see sugar courses meet the a through G requirements and you will also find in your classroom small little placard that states exactly what this course is it important for you as we move you towards College in career eligibility that we get you to understand what a through g means so please refer to the posters in their classrooms been with this time students teachers will have reflective questions for you to interact with your transcript so again if you have any questions reach out to your counselor or drop your transcript off at the counseling office thank you and have a wonderful day
