good evening or good morning to whoever is listening Christmas alignment After High School I'm going to give you guys a quick little tutorial on how to if you were not able to fill out your course selection sheet or if your kid was not able to attend the English class when the counselors went over it lucky you we are going to go over that right now okay so here this is going to come through students you are going to want to click on read more okay that comes up now we're going to click on this link here forms and watch what happens and when you go this point then you know that you're in the right place now mind you depending on who your kids counselor is it may not say mister laminate may say Miss Johnson Sanchez mr. Guerrero mrs. George or me okay you are in the right place and we are going to get started like I told the kids before this is a really really easy process to complete so easy in fact that even I can do it and Lord knows I am not the most techie guy in the world but at the same time you can be easily messed up if you do not follow very simple instructions so I'm not going to read to you I'm sure you all can can do that and understand but I want you to pay attention to this little paragraph of notes and information very very so there's the written instructions I'm going to give you the visual instructions on what to do first thing you're going to want to do is Click right to download the course selection sheet I just clicked on the link and this is what comes up okay it's pretty much the same form that kids have been getting only now it's going to be line because of the pandemic and know you know I'm trying to go paperless and in this time okay so once you have this okay now you're going to download it cake and look what happens it gets so much more clear look at that this means it is now ready to fill out okay when he gets nice Crystal clear like that and you know I have boxes in these categories you know that you're ready to go okay so once you downloaded it hey we're just going to use my name for example my man Cameron my favorite number or should be your student or your kids ID number and then whoever their counselor is okay I always put this is Sanchez you want to make sure that you put your kids counselor in there and I know mrs. Johnson is been out and we've been kind of taking over and helping her students and parents out Miss Johnson is your counselor still go ahead and put Miss Johnson down there because we are not sure when she will be returning we're hoping that she comes back soon and if you put her name down there then these forms will be sent directly to her okay alright so real quick we're just going to go from top to bottom and again this what we have here for an example is a junior grade course selection sheet but it could be a chance it could be a senior course selection sheet or could be an incoming freshman course selection sheet so pay attention to the specifics but know also that when we get down a little further some of the things will change based on what grade level your student is that okay so here I go right here underneath the name is I plan to attend you see a Cal State another four-year School a community college military attack or trade school or I'm going to go out and just get a job. So I'm going to fill this out as if this were me when I was a high school senior man a very very long time ago scene okay so this were me and I were going into the 11th grade I would say imma go to Community College now here is the part is I went on to play college football but I had no idea that I was going to go that route but if we have some athletes that you feel that you're pretty good you stand a chance of getting a college scholarship then you also want to make sure that you pay attention to the NCAA eligibility center okay with too much information but if you're an athlete and you're pretty good you may want to check that out and start poking around and getting familiar with that website here are the two boxes and I want you to pay attention to here on my left is the graduation requirements which is kind of a big deal kind of important okay because what I was telling the kids earlier is that they need to know these requirements like they know the lock screen password to get back into their phone when their phones been sitting for awhile okay they should really get familiar with this box of information okay I will read to you but I am going to read to you this time just so I make sure that I don't forget anything and so that I can clarify some things as I go down this list okay so right now I have social science you need 3 years of a social science that's going to be sophomore year world history junior year is going to be us history and I see your ears going to be gov econ okay English that's pretty self-explanatory four years of that math are you going to need three years starting with algae 1 or making sure that you complete Algebra 1 and then science you going to need three years I want to specify on this requirement you need a life science you need a physical science and then the third year be one of your choosing are you can decide which one you want to do after that the next One Fine Art CTE or for language you need one year okay you need one year of one of these categories you do not need one year out of each of these categories caso4 example when I was in high school I was not very artsy okay so I probably wouldn't have taken a fine arts was also not very I get nauseous and say that I could have taken a foreign language in fact I did I took Spanish but what I should have done is I should have taken auto shop which is one of our CTE courses K maintenance and light repair okay so I didn't take Ceramics I could have taken Auto or I could have taken Spanish I had a choice K these kids here and Elsinore have a choice you do not have to take one of you can take one of one of these categories I don't know if I made that more simplistic or if I made it more complicated but in any case you only need 10 credits for net category next that's pretty simple you need one semester physical education you need two years 82 years of PE electives you need 55 credits which brakes how to be 5 and 1/2 classes of electives which if you don't fail a lot of classes by the time you're a junior a second semester you're probably going to be just about done with your electives yes we still have 40 hours of community service that are required to graduate if you are going to a 4-year School or university you want to make sure you pay attention to the a through g box some of the requirements in the a through g box coincide with the graduation requirements some of them do not so there's similarities and there's there's also some differences as well so just make sure that you're aware and if you know you're going to a 4-year School you really want to make sure as early as possible that you are still me to meet knock out these requirements in a little bit and look at when I call like the basic 4K the basic for which is your active fix your meat and potatoes of your schedule this is a this is a basic for because it's an upperclassman right remember it's a junior course selection sheet it's going to differ what's in these boxes obviously you're going to differ with an incoming freshmen or even a current sophomore right so just know we're just doing this using this form as an example so let's say I was my junior year okay I would have taken English 11 here are my choices for English 11 math I took geometry my sophomore year so junior year I would have taken Algebra 2 lifestyle science my junior year did not take a life science as you see Life Sciences here I took a physical science and that was chemistry and if for my social science or my history class I took u.s. history I still remember my history teachers name his name was Mister Duba he was an African gentleman and a thick thick accent and he was a little scary but I learned a lot from him some things you remember okay so there is my kind of meeting potatoes okay my academic courses okay I got an English a science and history everybody else will have that with the exception of incoming freshman because freshmen do not take history classes their freshman year but if you're a sophomore junior or senior you're going to have the basic it fell out okay scrolling down a little bit student and parents we need your e-mail addresses and the dates here and parents we need you to check that saying that you have verify and checked and you give the thumbs-up to everything that your kid has signed up for okay all right now a little bit more of the fun stuff now we get to the elective choices okay so here are all the electives that we have for you to choose from this year's a little bit different than what we're asking you to do to pick out five electives and number them by order of preference okay so again we're going to go with me as if this were my junior year all right so remember up-top I've already picked for that's already for classes I'm going to have so I know I played football so I know football needs to be on that list I know I'm taking the total of six classes next four of them have already been picked I know football is going to be my top priority okay so there's my number one number two I'm going to pick psychology because I'm interested in that receive O Let's go to maintenance and light repair for my number three number four is going to be Ceramics I had missed was Hitler cuz he was a really cool teacher and then I watch learn how to write a little bit better so I'm going to pick journalism as number five okay so remember the four up top my my basic 4 and then I have one too 3 4 + 5 that's it guys that's it okay that's how you fill out your corset action sheet so super easy so super easy now when I'm going to do is I'm going to one side filled it out making sure my name is on on top K making sure I've got the box checked and I have my 12345 elected chosen I'm going to get off today I'm going to say that I'm going to save this to some place that I know I can find it and for me not being a tech savvy guy I like to put stuff on my desktop because an easy place to retreat Elise course selection sheet all right so I'm going to save that it's already desktop is already selected never let go back and see if I can find that stop this is Tomorrowland here we go so I come back to this page here right now we've already member we downloaded The Form K it came up we kind of down low again to get it clear and to get it to where it's usable right now and then we saved it and I save mine to my desktop now we're going to upload okay just going to stay where is billie's course selection sheet right there double clicked on it and there you go okay if you do not see that here then you have not can you have not completed the process correctly okay so now I'm going to hit submit confetti balloons a bunch of fireworks are going off right now you have submitted your 2021-22 course selection sheet that means that you are golden okay and that's all it takes and that's all it takes is very easy to do all you have to do is just take your time read and if you have questions make sure that you your counselor in and find out how we can help you so again make sure when you go in through a parent or student Square make sure that you are on the correct course selection sheet so an incoming freshman who's going to be in the 9th grade right should not be doing a course selection sheet marked 11th grade that's pretty obvious right so take your time if you questions just ask us and we will help you out as
