EMPLOYMENT EXPOSURE AND PREPAREDNESS

Career Coordinator Karen Basler provides job counseling that inspires, guides, and motivates willing participants to become more oriented with the professional demands of private and corporate employers. Student's are offered off-campus access to internship opportunities with local business during the academic day. A typical internship runs twice weekly for a period of three hours. Mrs. Basler collaborates with several service providers in an on-going effort to qualify for paid internships.

Purpose, preparedness, and presentation are pillars for prospective employees seeking gainful employment. Mrs. Balser aids our students in the development of their resumes, personal statements, interviewing skills, and certificates like food handler's cards, CPR, and government identification cards. Karen models different methods of introduction, presentation of qualifications, and strategies to secure interviews.
Food Handler Certification
Amielle Lee
Yay! I got my food handler's card! Now I can finally work at a café.

Emma Hailey
We studied to get our food handlers license using Kahoot. We went in and took a test and we all passed. One more step towards adulting.

Aziel Torres
I am very appreciative of the fact my school and my teachers took the time to take all of us to get our food handler's card. This allows us to work at local businesses.

Testimonials
Kevin Boggs (left)
Working at Chili's and other business in our community really helped me prepare for my job interview with Stauffer's in Lake Elsinore. I was able to use these experiences during my interview when the manager asked me about employment history. I was happy to get the job and I currently work part-time during the week.

With Mrs. Basler's help, I applied for a paid internship program. I was able to list Chili's along with a few other work places in my application. As of now, I am very close to joining the paid internship program which is very competitive.
Darrin Pleasure
I'm a senior and I've always wanted to begin working. The job internship program allowed me to bolster my application and interviewing skills. I graduate soon so I've very happy that I've already begun working. I will apply to some of these business right after I graduate and I think I will have a shoe in.

Rodrigo's
Aziel Torres
Working at Rodrigo's gives me experience at a restaurant where employees make extra money in tips. After I graduate, I would like to have a similar job where I am paid minimum wage, but also earn additional tip money. The tip money is how I can get ahead and closer to my goals sooner.

Oscar's

Oscar's is really clean and really organized. This is important to me because customers are going to be touching tables and eating their food. So for public safety it was nice to work in an open environment that was clean. I liked knowing that I helped keep the tables clean for the customers.

Michael Cerame
This was a good experience for me because I like the layout of the restaurant and the fact it overlooked the pond. I got some more inspiration for an idea of have in running my own restaurant. The motorcycle outside made for a great place for customers to take pictures.

I am new to the community based learning program at Elsinore High. I benefit from this program because it is teaching how to become more prepared for when I apply for a job when I turn 16. I am learning how to take on responsibility given to me by my manager, complete the things asked of me, and the importance being on time.

MSJC
Joshua Hudson
I really enjoyed the trip to MSJC. I learned a lot about the campus, some of the accommodations available to me, and the possibilities that there are. My favorite place was the Eagle MakerSpace, where you can see the 3D printers, Laser, and the creations that were made from kids in the MakerSpace. I think I would for sure want to go there for two years and get my associates and transfer to get my bachelor's.

I really liked my visit to San Jacinto College this year. My favorite part about the trip was running up the massive bleachers at the football stadium. Besides my fear of heights, the view was tremendous. My least favorite part of the trip was the sweltering heat. I had to constantly put on and take off my jacket and mask. Despite the heat outside, the inside was ventilated and conditioned flawlessly. I would love to visit the campus when it is done renovating. Overall experience was a 9.5/10, (minus .5 for the heat).

3d printing looked cool I guess. The 3d printer smelled nice. There was a robot bird. The bird was an eagle I think. I picked a yellow flower and carried it around for the rest of the trip.

Two things I disliked about the tour was the large campus and the amount of walking. Both of these things could be solved by using the online prerecorded lessons. Another thing I did not like was that the book store was moved/being built, though hopefully its built by the time I go there. 3 things I like about the tour was the photography, the sports area, and the fact there were tutors. I'd like to be a tutor if I end up going to MSJC.

I wish we could have seen the auto shop. The 3d printing shop was cool. When we went on top of the stadium and saw the view, that was cool. I didn't like the robot bird.

I liked that the photography part of the field trip. It was really cool and I'm interested. I wish I was able to see the auto shop. I liked the 3D printing room, which was really cool. The stadium was cool to look off of.
