Me, as a teacher.
I began my teaching career at Elsinore High in 2010. Prior to joining the Alternative Education Program, I taught a variety of subjects in both general and special education settings.
In my classroom, I maintain a respect for the individual needs of students, foster a caring environment, and emphasize the social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development of each student. My classroom is tailored to help each student come into confident possession of their innate talents, and improve the skills needed for success in both school and personal relationships. As an educator, I continue to self-evaluate and welcome new concepts and methods of instruction. Under the stewardship of my administration, I strive to be a balanced and passionate instructor, and ensure each student understands their value and purpose within their school and community. I understand the successfulness of any educational program is founded on the collaborative efforts of students, parents, and staff; and with this understanding, I hope to be a great facilitator.
Our Alternative Education Program
Our program is designed to give students with significant special needs, especially those with emotional challenges, the same opportunities for learning, growth, and success as any other student. The team at EHS understands that each child learns differently, so we provide a truly individualized and tailored approach that meets their unique strengths, needs, and goals.
In our classroom, students receive personalized support, a caring environment, and learning experiences that build academic skills, social confidence, and emotional well-being. We work closely with families to ensure every student feels valued, understood, and prepared for life after high school.
Our goal is simple: to help every student realize their potential, no matter the challenges they may face.
My Hope as Their Educator
My students will learn to be thinkers, but not ones who think out loud. Strive to learn everything, but realize nothing can ever be known for sure. Believe nothing is absolute, but absolutely defend their beliefs. Understand that chance is prevalent in many aspects of life, but never leave anything important to chance. Have faith in everyone, but understand not everyone will be faithful. Be passionate about their interests, but never interested in only one passion. Be giving of their time, but not to the point of forgetting its value. Dream often, but be more than a dreamer. Be content but never satisfied. Think everything through completely, but never through thinking about anything.
Communication
As much as I would like to utilize technology to facilitate parent involvement and student engagement, I do not want to bombard parents with additional platforms and mediums of communication. As such, I stick to e-mail, phone, and text.
I look forward to having a wonderful year.
