PTSA – Parent, Teacher, Student, Association.        

1)  Worthwhile cause: 

*It is 110 years old and the biggest child advocacy organization in the world. 

*In the U.S, it is because of the PTSA that we have many benefits like:  the juvenile justice system,  public kindergarten,  state funded hot lunches,  and the television rating system we see on our TVs every day.

2)  Here at EHS: 

At the high school level, the students and student organizations (ASB, Boosters, clubs) do so much that there is not much of a need for parents to volunteer or be on campus.  However, the PTSA provides services to a few programs and clubs.  

*Parents who attend any of the 6 meetings a year will be more informed – one of the Co-Principals attend every meeting and gives a Principal’s report about the school.   

3)  Your child can be a PTSA member: 

*Just having the PTSA membership allows your student to use the PTSA as an organization they can list as community involvement on job applications and college applications (even without attending meetings).

*The PTSA provides opportunities through out the school year for students to earn community service hours for graduation.

*We grant Senior Scholarships: the only requirement (besides being a member) is that the student is applying to a higher learning school (community college, vocational school, or university). To apply, the student submits an essay about themselves and their involvement within their families and community.

PTA provides opportunities for growth. By volunteering with your local PTSA, you can put your skills to good use to benefit your child's education. You can also tackle new challenges that will help you grow. 

PTA helps you set a good example. Local PTSAs offer students opportunities to work with parents and teachers on school issues affecting the whole community. As a PTSA member, you'll be demonstrating to your child the importance you place on education.
