Here is a short video to help parents support their students for Back To School Night 2020! The video reviews basic functions in CANVAS. I encourage all parents to have their student show them our CANVAS classroom. Students, please show your parents all your assignments, how we take attendance via the "Discussions" Tab in CANVAS, etc...As you can see extra-time is provided for all students to complete assignments! Aloha welcome world history parents and students back to school by 2020 I just want to make a short video to share some basic functions and canvas and I like your student to show you as parents their canvas classroom we have a lot of tools there to help support our students and so I will start this is a bass lesson on how to navigate true canvas for world history all the important features that your student should be able to do or use by this time okay I'm going to share the screen now excellent and now there should be on your screen as I'm sharing this is a world history and this page here and this is what your student Ashley Infinite Campus hear some students parents do that I still need you to click the Russian I still need all discussion and this is how we take roll students just click on September 22nd for example and they just tell me what. They have history we've been doing this since the beginning August 13th basically like the second day of school the first day of school attendance was taken by the administration as they were giving some teaching and learning about the canvas platform for our students so this is how we take attendance in world history very simple it takes less than 10 seconds to actually please make sure your student directions the second thing is assignments I want to show you where the assignments are located I just want to let you know that all of our assignments and quizzes extra time is provided certificate leave it's a short assignment basically that day until midnight if it's a little bit more requiring maybe two days what will happen is I will line to the following play at midnight so typically if they have two pages of notes that require detailed historical research and our textbook I'll give them two days to do it if it's a short assignment but always up until midnight so look at this one this is the homework for September 22nd and it was 738 at 11:59 this is a short assignment what is it a student's view the following videos on Ancient Rome and take notes non-graded activity students to practice their literacy skills Reading Writing comprehending and critical thinking and we do this through writing reading NC critically so we have these very cool videos to help support their topic which is chapter 1 section 2 the world of the rum is Pages 14 to 19 so let's go back to assignment have your student go over these with you and look to see how much time or extra time they've been afforded and you will see that we do offer extra time assignment announcement kind of critical information like I said hey watch out we got a quiz today here's make flashcards attendance reminder so I will always post a an announcement but just when it's necessary but it's just another tool in canvas Zumiez also just one tool to video tool and you can students login I typically login on the calendar you see right course but they can hit the zoom tab here if they need to and if one doesn't work try the other sometimes we have computer glitches it's just the nature of the Beast of Technology scotians where to find it time for assignment and then we have our announcement Pages where you can get more information on the bed rubric for our outline note-taking practice and so would you a lot of riding inquiry collaboration and this is part of our literacy development this is The Benchmark this is one of our students to be by the end of 10th grade and everyone is at a different place and so you can check here to see how to get an A how to get a B C or D do is Click right over here and there's a little PowerPoint and so you can compare notes literally to see if you're meeting The Benchmark it doesn't matter if you're not at this level is about getting progress experiencing progress not Perfection so this is The Benchmark the other thing I want to share with you is the syllabus you can find it here and you have a course description teaching philosophy material in the class rules right so yeah this is basically the functions of canvas and I want to be able to work this is Adirondack for this is a test Dune so that's why I can't see that this is just a way that you can work with your student parents and students you can work with your parents to show them exactly how we do assignments where we take our graded on our textbook outline notes our syllabus and what have you so hopefully this was beneficial to you I will not keep you any longer the necessary hope you have a great evening take care Aloha have a great evening
