11/29/18 - HOID? Lab setup and Reading

1.  "Let's Get this Moldy Bread" - Set up your bread experiment.  We will monitor it for the next couple of weeks and the data/conclusions will be part of your unit project.

11/13/18: WTEW - Cost Benefit Analysis Video and Finish Presentations

1.  Watch and complete the Edpuzzle video - Intro to Cost Benefit Analysis (Very short - 5 min.)
 
2.  Work with your group to finish your Cost Benefit Analysis report.  Use the video and the directions from last week's post as a guide to finish.  We will airplay the presentations in class tomorrow.

11/8/18: WTEW - Costs of Mining

Watch the video: "Ground Rules"  
 
Take 1 pg. of notes about all of the costs that go into doing mining the right way
 
Be prepared to create a section into your project about these operating costs. 
 
When the video is over, complete your mineral research from yesterday.  Everyone must have 7 common data statistics about their mineral to compare with the rest of the group.  
 

11/7/18: WTEW - Mineral Research

Use the link below to complete today's assignment.
 
 
1.  Find your mineral on the commodity summary page. 
 
2.  Get to know the value of your mineral by reading the entire article. 
 
3.  As a group, choose 7 statistics to research and compare.  Choose data that you think best determines the VALUE of it. 
 
Examples: Production (Supply), Consumption and uses (Demand), Imports/Exports (Location), etc. 
 
4.  Summarize the 7 data points about your mineral.  
 

11/5/18: WTEW- Inquiry-Business Planning

Complete part 1 of the project for the quesiton "What's the Earth Worth?"
 
A. Read about the uses of minerals.  
 
B.  Choose a business that requires Earth's minerals.  Examples: Precious metals, Construction materials, Beauty products, Kitchen design, etc.  There needs to be one mineral for each person in the group to research.  
 
C. Develop as many questions as possible about what you would need to know to pick the most profitable mineral commodity.  
 
Examples: How much is produced per year?  Where is the mineral produced? How much is the mineral worth?
